Celestica A2210 (AMD Serenade)
The A2210 is a dual Opteron (Socket 940) server, based on the AMD
8111/8131 chipset, and is available in IDE and SCSI configurations.
This server is a part of AMD's Validated
Server Program. The HP
ProLiant DL145 (G1) is a re-branded
Celestica A2210.
FreeBSD Compatibility
Update, 25 Jan 2008: Support for the Celestica 2210 (and A8440) has been dropped by AMD and Celestica. Most of the documentation and support files have been removed from the manufacturer's website. Where possible, I've provided local copies of these documents (see below). Additional documents are available in the docssubdirectory.
Update, 2 Jun 2006: I've now tested 6.1-RELEASE on the A2210, and included the relevant new information below.
AMD and Celestica do not certify FreeBSD compatibility, but my testing
has shown that 5.4-RELEASE and 6.1-RELEASE appear to be fully functional on this
machine. The test configuration:
- A2210-SCSI
- 2 x Opteron 246 (2.0 GHz)
- 3072 MB RAM
- 2 x Infineon HYS72D128320GBR-6-B (1024-MB, DDR333) on CPU0
- 2 x Infineon HYS72D64300GBR-6-B (512-MB, DDR333) on CPU1
- 1 x Seagate ST336607LC
(36-GB, SCSI-3) [now 2 x Seagate ST373405LC (73-GB, SCSI-3)]
- kernel built with options
SMP, options NO_MIXED_MODE,
and without device atpic [standard SMP kernel used for 6.1]
