Nancy and I watched The Social Network tonight. I thought it was pretty entertaining, even as a Facebook curmudgeon.
In a mood of mocking inspiration, I told her that "we need to make a Facebook. What do you want to be able to do on the web?"
"Pet kitties."
"Done. I'm going to register petkitties.com right now." I figured for sure the domain was taken, but since it wasn't, I registered it. WHOIS showed up almost immediately.
Well to hell with it then, I thought. In a movie-portrayed-Zuckerberg fit of productivity, I wrote a business plan for PetKitties.com, added a DNS zone to BIND, configured an Apache HTTPd virtual host, cranked out a few lines of HTML, and BAM. Version 0.1 of PetKitties.com. All in about 15 minutes.
You're looking at a freaking prodigy here, folks.
